tri-Pride Community Awards

These awards recognize the accomplishments of LGBTQ+ individuals and supportive groups/organizations within Waterloo Region. Making this work visible fosters community engagement and rewards contributions to our community that make it a better place to live for everyone!

Nominations will be accepted in four categories: OUTstanding Individual, OUTstanding Youth, OUTstanding Business, and LGBTQ+ Community Builder. tri-Pride is the annual LGBTQ+ pride festival celebration for Waterloo Region. A family affair, it has plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family.

Here are the categories:

OUTstanding Individual

One member of the LGBTQ+ community will be recognized for OUTstanding Individual contributions to the LGBTQ+ community in Waterloo Region. Examples of contributions include community service, political activism, advocacy, efforts to raise awareness, singular contributions to groups, and educational service.

OUTstanding Youth

One member of the LGBTQ+ community will be recognized for OUTstanding Youth for their work and contributions to the LGBTQ+ community in Waterloo Region. This award will be presented to a young person between the ages of 14-24. Examples of contributions include community service, political activism, advocacy, efforts to raise awareness, singular contributions to groups, and educational service.

OUTstanding Business

It takes moxy to be a business which stands up and out to support the LGBTQ+ community! The OUTstanding Business Award will recognize one business in Waterloo Region which has contributed to community involvement, positive and equitable business practices, unwavering support of LGBTQ+ initiatives, and progressive attitudes and actions in support the LGBTQ+ community.

LGBTQ+ Community Builder

In Honour of Robin’s Nest. What is a community but the sum of the people within it and how they organize to create social groups? The best of these are those groups demonstrating a powerful commitment to positive change in the community in which they operate. The Community Builder is in honour of the Robin’s Nest and will be awarded to a non-profit or community group providing services to the LGBTQ+ community in Waterloo Region.
